Family Constellations FAQ’s What is Family Constellations? Family Constellations is a way of looking at a person in the context of their family system. There can be unresolved emotions or situations, secrets, traumas or blockages that are carried through generations which affects the love and life force a person can experience in their life. Through Family Constellations we make contact with the systemic consciousness which is carried through the individual and family system to support movement towards resolution for the client, free of entanglements and burdens that is not theirs to hold. This supports the next generation in not repeating the same patterns. It is a somatic body-based framework that works with what we call the knowing field (energetic field and systemic consciousness) to reconnect a person to the love and life force of the systemWhat happens on a group day / how does it work? The basic format of the day:- There will be some form of opening the space and meditation- The facilitator will ask the client about the issue they would like to work on followed by some questions about the persons family of origin, current family and significant trauma’s - The client will then choose someone to represent themselves in the constellation and any other family members the facilitator feels is necessary to begin with- Each person will feel into their body (any feelings, sensations or emotions) arising within themselves as well as the energy field- The facilitator will then begin the process of interacting with the representatives and gaining feedback about what they are experiencing and support the interactions between representatives so that whatever needs to be expressed, worked through and handed back is given an opportunity to be released in a healthy way- At the end of the day there will be some form of meditation and closingThe Family Constellations practitioner has an important role of holding space for all participants as well as working with the “knowing field” to facilitate the process between representatives. The knowing field is the energetic field that is opened and formed in the constellation process. What is a representative? A representative is anyone other than the client who participates as the client's family member (eg.mum) in the constellation.Who represents in a 1:1 session? The facilitator can represent family members for the client, there can be “place holders” or the client can be guided to imagine family members in their minds eye.Why be a representative?Being a representative is a beautiful way to be of service and support others in their healing. My experience has been that representatives also gain a lot of awareness and potential shifts for themselves and within their family. What is the difference between a 1:1 session and a group? In a group setting, other people who have come along to support your session will participate as representatives of your family members. You as the client will not actively participate in the constellation as yourself initially. You will observe the dynamics, energy, communications and exchanges as they unfold in the field in front of you. This is a very powerful as you may gain other perspectives and awareness that is new to you. Often representatives will express what hasn’t been able to be expressed before. In a 1:1 session the facilitator can represent family members for the client, the client can be guided to imagine family members in their minds eye or there can be “place holders”. Both types of constellations are very powerful in their own right.Do I have to have any experience? No, not at all. I will explain everything you need to know before we begin and will be there to support the process the whole way through. What do I wear? Comfortable clothes you can move around in. In a group setting we will start the day sitting on the floor. In a 1:1 session we will start sitting in a chair. In both types of sessions you may be standing / sitting for long periods of time (up to 90minutes).Do I need to bring anything? All you need to bring is an open mind and an open heart. In a group session snacks, water, tea and coffee will be provided as we will be doing multiple constellations in a day.How do I know if this is for me? - If you are ready for change- If you want to feel more connected, experience more love and release what is not yours to carry- If you see patterns or trauma’s in your family that continue in your generation or repeat through multiple generations- You may keep attracting the same type of partners and aren’t sure why- If you’ve tried to address an issue with therapies/modalities such as Counseling/Therapy, Kinesiology, Energetic healing etc but feel it’s not shifting as much as you would like- Often people feel “pulled” or “called” to be there even if they are not sure why- If you want to be of service to support others in their healing as a representativeAs a client how many sessions do I need?It is completely up to you how many sessions you have. The general consensus is 1-5 sessions however I don’t prescribe a certain amount of sessions and leave it to each individuals free will and choice to decide what is right for them. I’ve had clients that have found great benefit from one session only. I’ve also had clients that have had multiple sessions and felt that the consecutive nature built upon each other in a way that only having a one off wouldn’t have. If requested I can use Kinesiology muscle testing to find the priority amount of sessions and timeframes for clients. Book a 1:1 Living Authentically Session or Attend a Group Workshop
